1. Pipes A and B fill tank in 24 and 30hrs. How much time the will tank if they both started together?

2. Pipe A fill tank in 15hr. Due to leak, it fills in 20hr. If tank is full, how much time it will take to empty it ?

3. Pipe A and B fill tank in 6 and 9hr and pipe C take 12hr to empty it. If they started together. Tank will fill in?

4. Two pipe A and B fill tank in 24 and 32min. If both pipes are opened together, after how much time should B be closed so that tank fill in 18min?

5. Pipes A and B can fill a tank in 5hr and 6 hours respectively. Pipe C can empty it in 12 hours. If

all the three pipes are opened together, then the tank will be filled in?

6. A pump can fill a tank with water in 2 hours. Because of a leak, it took 2+1/3 hours to fill the

tank. The leak can drain all the water of the tank in how much time?

7. Two pipes A and B can fill a cistern in 37+1/2 minutes and 45 minutes respectively. Both pipes are opened. The cistern will be filled in just half an hour, if the B is turned off after how much time?

8. A tank is filled by three pipes with uniform flow. The first two pipes operating simultaneously fill the tank in the same time during which the tank is filled by the third pipe alone. The second pipe fills the tank 5 hours faster than the first pipe and 4hrs slower than 3rd pipe. the time required by first pipe is?

16. A tap can fill a tank in 6 hours. After half the tank is filled, three more similar taps are opened. What is the total time taken to fill the tank completely?

17.Three taps A, B and C can fill a tank in 12, 15and 20 hours respectively. If A is open all the time and B and C are open for one hour each alternately, the tank will be full in?

18. Three pipes A, B and C can fill a tank in 6hours. After working together for 2hours, C is closed and A and B can fill the remaining part in 7 hours. The number of hours taken by C alone to fill the tank is?

19.Pipe A and B can fill tank in 20min and 60min. Both are opened  10min then A is off. After, how much time tank will be filled?

Mathematics Basic concepts : Unit-I


Test of divisibility:

*       A number is divisible by ‘2’ if it ends in zero or in a digit which is a multiple of ‘2’i.e. 2,4, 6, 8.

*       A number is divisible by ‘3’, if the sum of the digits is divisible by ‘3’.

*       A number is divisible by ‘4’ if the number formed by the last two digits, i.e. tens and units are divisible by 4.

*       A number is divisible by ‘5’ if it ends in zero or 5

*       A number is divisible by ‘6’ if it divisible by ‘2’ as well as by ‘3’.

*       A number is divisible by ‘8’ if the number formed by the last three digits, i.e, hundreds tens and units is divisible by ‘8’.

*       A number is divisible by ‘9’ if the sum of its digit is divisible by ‘9’

*       A number is divisible by ‘10’ if it ends in zero.

*       A number is divisible by ‘11’ if the difference between the sums of the digits in the even and odd places is zero or a multiple of ‘11’.


LCM:
LCM of a given set of numbers is the least number which is exactly divisible by every number of the given set.

HCF:
HCF of a given set of numbers is the highest number which divides exactly every number of the given set.
 
Additional Rules
*       The square of an odd number is always odd.
*       A number is said to be a prime number if it is divisible only by itself and unity. Ex. 1, 2, 3, 5,7,11,13 etc.
*       The sum of two odd number is always even.
*       The difference of two odd numbers is always even.
*       The sum or difference of two even numbers is always even.
*       The product of two odd numbers is always odd.
*      The product of two even numbers is always even.
